Location is great
Cleanliness was ok, no wifi (only cable) and was not working in my room, has to change, pretty basic all around. ok Hotel for a short trip in Barcelona
Free mineral water; Free Internet; Check-out time (noon); Clean Rooms; Friendly staff; Consigna Facilities
Unpractical breakfast setting: lack of space to put things, long tables with benches and a few seats, very slow coffee-machine (while larger one was not to be used at breakfast time). Only one variety of egg. Muesli spoon stored in the muesli, including handle:-(
Location of the hotel is really good. Walking distance to many things that Barcelona has to offer. Just a few minutes away from the El Born area with plenty of small shops, cafes and resturants. We would definetely come back the next time we go to Barcelona. Free drinking water on all floors is also a plus.
Outstanding location. Close to the Chocolate museum, the Picasso museum and many other interesting sights. The rom was clean and very quiet. The roof top area was perfect for wine and cheese with our friends one evening.
Minor but the room was rather sparse. Two more comfortable chairs would have been great.
Professionally run pleasant, clean hotel in a central location. The rooms are minimalist but are adequate and have excellent shower rooms / WC.
Breakfast is the poorest in choice and quality I have experienced in a modern European hotel. The hotel is in a narrow street and noise reverberates. If you have a room on the front the noise will keep you awake.
Tidy, cozy, good situated hotel in the center of Barcelona. Clean and originally decorated room with good sound isolation. Friendly and english speaking personal.
This hotel was originally recommended by a friend and this is now the fourth time I have stayed here. I find the location excellent for everything in Barcelona, from beaches to shopping, culture to nightlife. The staff are friendly and approachable with fantastic recommendations for restaurants and bars. Security is also good. I always feel comfortable and enjoy staying here and look forward to doing so again
The location and staff responsiveness were the best aspects. The rooms are a decent size, neither spacious nor cramped. Clean and tidy, no nonsense sort of place at the heart of the city and very, very close to the Picasso Museum, so it was easy to enjoy a coffee and croissant in the vicinity and get to the queue before 10 a.m. on the Sunday.
The minimalist decor is extreme: no drawers, literally, and no shelves in the bathroom. Expect to live out of your suitcase. Boutique hotel is often a euphemism for cheap and minimalist decor, which unfortunately applies to the Ciutat de Barcelona. It will look very worn in about 2 years. I would recommend it now but probably not after 2012.
the beds were lovely and big and comfort in general was very good.
Perfect location to explore the city quiet side street but easy to walk to everything and soak up the atmosphere of this old quarter. Loaded with small Tapas bars and more expensive and traditional Catalan restaurants. Chic boutique feel without being over the top or pretentious.
Great location, quiet haven to return to after sightseeing in bustling Barcelona.Complimentary water in refrigerator for all to take as needed a nice touch.
Very nice quiet and smart hotel in the historical and touristic center of Barcelona.
Location was fantastic, close to attractions and transport links to other events/venues.Beds are very hard, which for me was great. Lots of cheaper eating place locally. Attached Japanese restaurant was excellent quality
My wife found the bed very hard
Stayed here with my teenage son. Lovely, well located hotel. Rooms are modern and the rooftop pool and terrace are a lovely addition. Perfect to sit and relax with a drink after a hard day sightseeing or shopping! Lots of great coffe shops, bars and restaurants for breakfast, lunch, dinner and small supermarkets within 5 minutes walk so didn't use the hotel restaurant although it looked nice and was always busy. Hotel is really close to everything with the old town on your doorstep and the beach / port, Las Ramblas and Placa Catalunya all within a 10 - 15 minute walk. The metro Jaume 1 is also 5 minutes walk and definitely worth using when you want to go further afield.
We had an internal room which was dark all day and always required lights on. If I stayed here again (which I definitely would), I would request an external room to get some natural light and allow me to see what the weather was doing before I went out!
Great location for th Gothic district.
Could have done with being given a timetable of the events for La Merce. Felt as though we were so close to the events and missed most of them. Didnt like the view of the bins right outside my window on the street.I was under there was a rooftop bar as well as the pool but only a pool.
